About Counselling
About counselling
Counselling is a form of ‘talk therapy’, where an individual, couple, or family meet with a trained professional counsellor to discuss issues they are currently facing in their lives. Counselling typically focuses on a specific issue for a limited amount of time, in order to discover solutions to move forward in your life. Some people engage in counselling support over a longer period of time to explore multiple issues or challenges they encounter. Counselling is non-judgemental and tailored to individual needs. As counsellors, we utilise a holistic and strengths-based approach, focusing on the overall person, including your strengths and abilities.
How might counselling help you?
Counselling can help you develop strategies to cope with stress, manage your relationships, navigate grief and loss, or transition through big life changes. Counselling provides an opportunity to learn skills to help you cope better and foster positive changes in your life.
Who can benefit from counselling?
Most people! As humans we all experience different types of challenges and difficulties in life. Connecting with a counsellor can help you make meaning of different life events and build ways to cope. As this is a talk-based therapy, those that find communicating verbally more difficult may benefit from a different type of therapeutic approach, such as art therapy.
